SFBayAreaMountainBiking.com began as a simple list of places to ride near San Jose and expanded from there. The site is written by a single author who began mountain biking in the San Jose area in 1990. The author has also bicycled across the United States on a tandem with his wife, raced off-road motorcycles, is a unicyclist, and has road bike climbed some of the world’s most challenging peaks including Haleakalā and Muana Loa. The author currently bicycles 6000-10,000 miles each year. He has personally ridden every trail in every park listed on this site, which, along with the IMBA trail rating standard, provides a consistency in trail ratings.
