Description: Vargas Plateau contains one loop and one primary out and back trail in the hills east of Fremont between Niles Canyon and I-680. Trails are 100% fire roads and have full sun exposure. Although the park is one of the smaller in the South Bay with only 6 miles of trail, the big ride is still over 10 total miles with plenty of climb. The 1000 footer takes in all the trails except a steep ascent from the suburban housing of Fremont. The Big Ride includes the steep ascent which hits 20% grade for a short stretch, making it a much more challenging ride. Restrooms in the parking lot.
During the Wet Season: Trails are usually open.
