Description: Fremont Older dates to the origin of Mountain Biking, when riders in the 1970’s would take to the single track trails on their road bikes.  The park contains 14 miles of trails with 40% single track and great trail variety.  Trails vary in difficulty, but steepness makes Fremont Older a destination for intermediate riders and up.  Unfortunately, most of the trails are short, so very frequent turns are required to get anywhere, and it is easy to simply “go in circles”.  To get some distance, our recommended rides cover several trails in both directions. All rides have sustained climbs and good views of Silicon Valley.  Popular with hikers and equestrians, you will need to share the trail and be courteous.  Remember to always announce yourself, and dismount when near a horse.  Restrooms at the Stevens Canyon Rd. and Prospect Rd parking lots.

In the Wet Season:  The park is open, but some trails close seasonally, and some become impassable immediately after a rain.

Directions: Our 1000 Footer ride starts at the Prospect Rd. parking lot 2 mi west of Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd.  Parking fills early every day. A link to the parking location for the 1000 Footer in Google Maps is here. The Big Ride starts 4 Mi south of I-280 at the paved, fee required Stevens Creek County Park parking lot on Stevens Canyon Rd.  Parking is usually available at the lot. A link to the parking location for the Big Ride in Google Maps is here. This lot can be avoided by parking at the public park/recreation center on Voss Avenue in Cupertino and riding 1.2 miles south on Foothill Rd.  A 3nd Entrance is accessed via Regnart Rd., but has only roadside parking.
