Montebello – The Big Ride Turn by Turn:
- From Lakeside Picnic Area of Stevens Creek County Park, take Stevens Canyon Rd. south. 0.9 miles, paved road, rolling
- Right to stay on Stevens Canyon Rd., 3.5 miles, paved road, climb
- At end of road, continue on Canyon Trail, 1.1 miles, single track, climb, to the crossing of Stevens Creek. This crossing is through the creek, not via a bridge.
- Continue on Canyon Trail, 0.4 miles single track, climb.
- Veer right at the fork. Single track climb. Less than 0.1 miles after veering right at the fork you will encounter an intersection with Table Mountain Trail (do not turn here), cross a small tributary to Stevens Creek which is dry most of the year, and see a sign that demarcates Palo Alto City Limits.
- Continue on Canyon Trail, 2.3 miles, single track and narrow path, climb.
- Right on Indian Creek Trail. 1.0 miles, dirt road, climb.
- Veer right to stay on Indian Creek Trail, 0.2 miles, dirt road, climb.
- Merge onto Montebello Rd. Trail, 0.2 miles, gravel road, climb.
- At the summit of Black Mountain, turn around to retrace your route. 0.2 miles, gravel road, descent
- Left at Indian Creek Trail, 0.2 miles, dirt road, descent.
- Do NOT continue down Indian Creek Trail. Right on Old Ranch Trail, 0.7 miles, single track, rolling
- Left on Bella Vista Trail, 0.8 miles, single track, descent.
- Right on Canyon Trail, 0.2 miles, dirt road, rolling
- Left on Stevens Creek Nature Trail Connector, 0.3 miles, single track, climb.
- Left to cross the Montebello Open Space Parking Area and enter the White Oak Trail.
- Hard right to enter White Oak Trail out of the parking lot, 0.5 miles, single track, rolling.
- Bear left at the fork to continue on White Oak Trail, 1.3 miles, single track, descent then climb.
- Left on Skid Road Trail, 0.8 miles dirt road and single track, descent then climb
- Right on Canyon Trail, 0.2 miles, dirt road, rolling
- At the intersection with Indian Creek Trail, right to stay on Canyon Trail. 3.8 miles, single track and dirt road, descent. From this point on you are retracing the early part of the route.
- Straight onto Stevens Canyon Rd. 3.5 miles, paved road, descent
- Left to stay on Stevens Canyon Rd. 0.9 miles, paved road, rolling.
