Description:  With just 4.2 miles of trails open to bikes, Windy Hill Open Space Preserve mostly consists of one 1300 ft climb up the 2.7 mile Spring Hill Trail which is ridden out and back.  The trail is not technically challenging but is very steep in spots with some sections over 18% grade.   A second trail, the 1 mile long Meadow Trail, is a wonderful twisting single track that connects Spring Hill Trail with an alternative entrance.  Overall, Windy Hill should be considered short climbing challenge.  Because of the limited number of trails and their nature, we have only one recommended ride at Windy Hill. Restrooms are available at the Main Parking lot and the Anniversary Trail parking lot.

During the Wet Season:  Trails are usually open.

Directions:  The main entrance, and beginning of our recommended ride, is on Portola Road 1 mile northwest of Alpine Road.  Google Maps location is here. A second entrance is on Alpine Road at the intersection with Willowbrook Dr.  While the parking lot holds only eight vehicles, there is street parking on Willowbrook Dr. A third entrance and parking lot are on Skyline Blvd. State Rout 35, 2.4 miles south of State Route 84.
