Monument Peak – Big Ride Turn by Turn:
- From the Cordoza Park parking lot East on Kennedy Drive. It becomes Old Calaveras Rd. in 0.5 miles, paved, climb.
- Continue on Old Calaveras Rd. 1.3 miles, paved, climb
- Left. on Downing Rd. Enter Ed Levin Park. 0.5 miles, paved, climb
- From the Sandy Wool Lake parking area take the Tularcitos Trail for 0.2 miles, fire road, climb.
- Right on Calera Creek Trail, 1.5 miles, fire road, climb. The last 0.2 miles is very steep. There is a single track foot trail to the right (south) side of the trail that switchbacks up the hill a little less steeply. The foot trail is often hidden in the grass.
- Left. on Agua Caliente Trail, 0.6 miles, fire road, very steep climb. After 0.6 miles along this trail you cross into Mission Peak County Park in the East Bay regional Park System.
- Continue on the same trail, which is now simply called the Bay Area Ridge Trail, 1.9 miles to the summit.
- Retrace your steps back to the Milpitas Community Center.
