Big Basin – The 1000 Footer Turn by Turn:
- From the Park Headquarters and Visitors Center parking lot, take Hihn Hammond Road. 1.0 miles, dirt road, climb
- Right on Middle Ridge Road, 0.8 miles, dirt road, rolling
- Right on Gazos Creek Road, then an immediate left on Middle Ridge Road to the Ocean View Summit, 1.1 miles, dirt road, climb
- At the summit, do not continue on. Turn around to retrace your route for 1.1 miles, dirt road, descent.
- Left at Gazos Creek Rd. 1.0 miles, dirt road, descent
- Right on North Escape Road, 0.3 miles, paved road, flat.
