Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Santa Clara County Park

San Martin

Description:  Coyote Lake/Harvey Bear Ranch contains 26 miles of trails in a wide variety ranging from flat paved paths to skinny single tracks and steep climbs, all traversing the ridge between Coyote Valley and Coyote Reservoir.  Many of the trails contain long sections of gently sloping single track or narrow path, but there is sometimes a steep climb to access these trails.  Terrain varies depending upon the amount of cattle grazing on the park, but no trail has an excessively high technical challenge rating. Almost completely exposed, Harvey Bear gets hot in summer. Restrooms at park entrances and inside the park at the campground.

During the wet season: Clay soil makes the park impassible after a rain and the rangers aggressively close it during the wet season.
